Being rich is not an obligation?

May 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

MoneyI wondered if there was no obligation to try to become rich, following the line of thought Wallace Wattles and western morals, call it somehow. I refer to the following, I will try to explain. Our Western education have taught us that we must be good. That means must be good socially. That we must refine our spirit. That we must cultivate our virtues. That we must exercise our social solidarity, either in your personal life or in the corporate. That must be environmentally friendly. That must be open without discrimination to the disabled or people with different abilities.

All this is fine. But we should not teach us to be rich too? Because otherwise, we are giving a wealth of targets and obligations, but no giving us the means for them. Or seen another way, is much easier to comply with all these personal and social obligations if we are rich then if we battle in poverty and needs. Instead, every step we see as the rich are given the “luxury” of being well educated or socially solidarity.

On the other hand, require a poor that is killing himself to get a piece of bread for his family and ask him to be friendly with the environment or to refine his spirit studying philosophy, is more like a mockery than a sincere and honest education.

Could be that we educate to suffer? Or that money and wealth remain part of the human hypocrisy, that it punishes socially but personally wish passionately?

How to know what is what we really want?

March 8, 2008 · 1 Comment

Aha, we have arrived at the question of the million. If I had a prescription to answer that question, I would make a program of TV where respond that doubt to him to a single person and would have thousands of million viewers and hearing. It is possible that the basic question that all human being must answer itself when enters the adult age is so difficult to answer? Perhaps the human beings do not know what we want?

Perhaps it is possible that we do not have nor the most remote idea of which we want, in many cases but in almost all? If, it is possible. Perhaps it is an analogy of which the Principe of Saint Exupery said: The essential is invisible to the eyes. We would say, the Question that Seems More obvious is Most difficult To respond. Not in vain the psychologists proliferate and psychoanalysts who search our soul in look for that answer. But although there is no a prescription that says to us what mechanism to use for knowing it, we can give some tracks.

First it is to differentiate to want from to wish. The things that I want to not always are those that I desire and vice versa. To want to have something is to want it, simply, so that my mind wants that I have it. To wish it is a less mental feeling, and than it is lived more with the body, with the senses. I at this moment wish a chocolate ice cream, but I do not want for my future a chocolate ice cream, I don´t know if the difference is understood. We want with the mind, we wish with the body, the soul and the heart yet. The Science To become Rich is a mental attitude, is to want but that to wish. And what I want for my future, which I want to have, to have, to enjoy, to be, is something that I must visualize it in my mind, not to mix it with sensations or feelings. Science is mental, so that the mind creates, the heart or desire does not create.

The second is the deep introspection. There is no another way. I said in a post of some days ago that everybody has not been wanting nor truly is prepared to be rich, with all the problems that it can carry. There it is the point where we must be absolutely sincere with we our self. In the generalized case more of the readers of this blog, they will agree with me that when one arrives at certain adult age, is difficult to know what it is really wanted. This is thus so that we have been lived much, have seen many things, have been verified that the life is something so complex and complete, that one really does not know whereupon part of the life to remain, where to put the accent. It is why the sincerity with one is fundamental. Nobody as you is to say what is what you really want, but nobody as you will deceive to you so easily. It is a two-way road. And we must be sincere with ourselves, with whom but?

And the third track is “bloody more”, to give an adjective: it is to think about our personal history. The ways that we have taken and left, the place from where we come, our frustrations of kids, which sometimes we wanted to be and we did not animate ourselves or they did not let to us be, the frustrations of our parents who still weigh on us. Really, the history of our own life. That history is in the root of which we are, therefore to remove or to interpret our objectives from our same history, could not never be something other people’s to us. And perhaps we find there what really we want forwards, towards the future.

To watch to us but in history, in our history, to count it like a film and to remove there from what we need, the direction that we looked for, the future that we yearned for but without knowing it. It is obvious to mention that this is simply a way indication, each one must take the best thing than it sees and follow it. In the future, far but closely together, is there what we wished. Wattles knew it, and thus he wrote it.

To be rich is the opposite of being poor?

March 8, 2008 · 1 Comment

This is a clear example of how the culture, the language and the concepts deceive to us. To be poor is not to be able to fulfil our basic necessities. To be rich is not the opposite, so that to fulfil ours basic necessities only transforms to us into people of middle-class, very far from being rich. The statistics that each government makes demonstrate that in each country there are many families who cover their basic necessities and at at the same time there are very few rich ones.

Why this error of concepts appears, in which what seems to be the opposed thing is not really the opposite thing?

It is produce by the facti that the poverty does not exist, in a practical sense. The wealth yes. One cannot have poverty, is something intangible, is a quality, is not an object. Nevertheless the wealth is an object, is measurable, quantifiable, it is measured in dollars or houses or cars or in… There are many forms to measure the wealth actually. The poverty is simply a quality, the one of not reaching to cover the basic necessities with feeding, house, clothes, education and others.

And what are the consequences of this fundamental difference?

Beacuase the poverty, being a quality or a condition, has much better press than the wealth. To the poor men in some countries everything is allowed, including the crime, by its own condition of poor men. The rich ones are punished in any case, considering them bad people by the only fact of being rich, persecuting them in different forms, in almost all the countries. And are crime suspicions or Mafia organized is believed like origin of its fortune.

And what other consequences exist?

They are many. There are governments that opress the masses with the pretext to defend the poor men, and other governments who tolerate crimes or foment them with the pretext of defending the freedom of people. Those that say to defend the poor men make them poorer, whereas those who say to defend the freedom, still put below all the liberties the freedom of commerce, confusing the population.

What we would have to change?

Only our mind. If a rich one made fortune with legal means and their own capacity, is worthy of admiration, emulation and respect. If a rich one made its fortune with no legal means, he is gangster like those which robs to eat. We have to make an agreement in the society in what is crime is crime, and criminals are criminals no matter if are rich or poor. Of course the poor man can have excuses in front of a judge, but it does not stop being a delinquent. When the entire world understands this law, will be more rich people and and less poor ones.

All we are afraid of being rich

March 6, 2008 · 1 Comment

I received a mail from a friend that comment that a while ago with her husband they have a successful business. And the more successful were more problems began to appear, which ended up with the copule separated. She thinks that they were so affected that now her mind is hindered and that prevents it from moving, advance economically and have more things. She thinks that this fact makes them think, unconsciously, that if they do well with the money to go back to finish separated.

It is the fear of progress, leave happiness today. It is as if they were going to be punished by ambitious, and the universe will punish his ambition stripping what they want more than money.

I told my friend that this trauma actually exists in many people. Many of us do not want to progress faster or not we want to make progress at all because we are afraid of losing what we have, it seems to us very much. We believe that if we get rich by a coup, for example, we would bring bad luck and we could lose our family or our friends. And so we are satisfied, not risk, and try to improve a little, a very little without the Universe realize.

It is a defense mechanism of nature, while we are well, best dont innovate, dont change.

But it is a trap, an absurd  trap. Particularly because it means accepting the fear, adopt our own fear as a matter of course, who lives with us all the time. And that fear is going to finish winning our soul and seizing us. That fear will make us to progress increasingly slow, slower, to stop. And then there is no way out. No way.

The future and wealth are made for us. For whom instead? And that future we need to take, the way you want. First, we must dispel the fear of our minds, and then take in the future. As Wattles said, there is nothing good to be poor or have a modest life. If so were true, all the poor would be happy, and they are not. Poverty is not a good thing, is a sorry state that does not help us at all. And the middle class only increases the frustration of the people. Nobody can fully develop if it does not have everything that want, everything you need to show all your human qualities. Nobody can be happy in mediocrity.

And the security that we believe to have, in a shot could disappear. So we have to take our future, clean our minds of fear, and be free from fear that causes us forward. Only then can we quickly get everything we want and be truly happy.

There is a need to be rich?

March 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

I was thinking of what a visitor wrote of this blog, who indicated that indeed the true wealth was in the sentiments, the good things in relation enter people, not the money. He said that more or less verbatim…. I think the greatest asset that a person can get in his life is empathy, trust, love, friendship, patience, understanding, all that is the real human wealth. However much money you have not you will be happier, on the contrary, that you can do the most unhappy man of the earth. Greetings….

Meanwhile another blog visitor replied, very shortly, what would happen if a family member requires urgent surgical operation that cost $ 40,000 and would not… It goes without saying that the violent situation, and given that things are real that occur every day, there is no need to exaggerate the point. We have all seen instances of the sort.

Of course fine words are very poetic and very pleasant to hear, but faced with the reality of our world today, it is impossible not to see the need to have money, to dispose of assets. Anyone can put themselves in the place of people who are not served with the technology that would be necessary to save their lives, simply because they do not have money or property to transform into money.

It is at this point where all romanticismos disappear and one despairs, even reneging on its luck and god, it is impossible and frustration that this generates.

So we need to be rich, have a lot of money, so that money is not just a problem in our lives. SIf we have enough and more than enough, then the poem may actually be a poem, dreams can be dreams, because nothing is going to be stained the color of the need. There actually may be actually the words of this person that the greatest wealth are feeling. Cuando tienes el dinero resuelto claro. When you have the money solved, of course.

Wattles revisited

October 4, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As always I can, I make a re-reading of the book of the Science of Becoming Rich of our good friend and beneficent Wallace Wattles. This time was for some days of uncertainty to have happened, of doubt and of confusion in what concerns to my work and the different activities that I carry out to make money. It was, as always, to return to the source to charge the batteries.

And every time that I return encounter a new aspect in Wattles that had not seen before. This astonishes me because it is not such a long neither so dense book as so that one always finds different things.

In this case I stopped in a page with a thought that came me suddenly to my head. It was the security that Wattles is not an author of those of self-help that seeks to give us a recipe on how thinking, what to think and that if we make it we will have all the things that we want. The books of self-help have a thing in common: they say make this and that, of certain form, and your life will change one day for the other one. Wattles is different. Not there are recipes to change our form to think, there is not anything to modify in our lives. Not there is an order of things that to complete, neither recommendations that many times are contradicted among them.

Wattles is simple, simple, deeply scientific, creative, formative, and all their recommendations settle in making the things well. Only that it is necessary to make them in certain way, in a successful way, as he says, and with the faith of getting our purpose and gratitude for that to the sustance. Read it and see.

How to use the creative mind

September 24, 2007 · 2 Comments

Wallace Wattles indicates us repeatedly that we should use the creative mind instead of the competitive mind. The competitive mind is that makes an effort to win, that wants to take most of something that already exists in its own benefit. It is the mind that suposes that the wealths in the universe are limited and that therefore I should take it for me before it could be taken by another. And if I can take what another has well, quicker I will become rich. It is almost the limited mind, the mind of the economic rules, the squizo mind.

On the other hand the creative mind is that makes an effort to create wealths where there are not exists. It is the creative thought that looks for generating instead of appropriating, to put instead of taking out, to invent instead of competing by using the invented. It is the way like the big men of the history have become big, generating what doesn’t exist instead of keeping a portion of the existent thing.

And I think of an example excessively paradigmatic, first for the current times and then because it shows the same person clearly and consecutively in the use of their two minds. It is Bill Gates example.

When he was young, Bill used their creative mind deeply. In those years the computation companies decreased to a minuscule group led by IBM that had the vanguard and most of the market. The blue giant, as they call it, possessed enormous resources dedicated to develop more and more powerful machines and that alone could be bought by gigantic companies in many thousands or millions of dollars.

But young Bill was resolved to create an empire. Anyone in their situation, and with some common sense, had been given that it could not compete against IBM. Anyone also that had their ambition and their desire of wealth and had not still been discouraged, had thought that if he really wanted to make it should look for big investors, to propose them a convincing idea in exchange for many millions, and to rush to compete against the blue giant to be about stealing them although a small part of their enormous market. Maybe in few years it could have taken a tiny percentage of the market of the big computers and he had lived happy for ever in a humble middle class condominium.

But on the other hand Bill used his creative mind and decided to dive until finding a new niche, a new market, and he found it soon: computers for common people, for the man of the street, for the home and the small office, instead of computers for the big corporations. Their genius exploded and the substance helped him to develop a gigantic market that transformed it in few years in the richest man in the world. This way, instead of fighting for a small portion of the cake of other, his creative mind impelled him to create a new cake that was almost everything of its property and filled him with thousands of millions of dollars. Not alone he won thousands of millions but rather it contributed to change the life and the work like we know them, making an enormous jump to the modern world.

But the time passed. Not exacerbated by their enormous success the so young Bill already decided that it was moment his cake to be only for him that should not allow to enter to anybody. And it began to impel monopolic practices that were worth him millions of dollars in trials and a bad reputation like greedy, disloyal and not very prone character to the innovations if these were developed by others. The antimonopoly trials of Microsoft are a classic in all the areas of the planet and the bad reputation of its company is not gratuitous, due to those not very friendly practices. If the good of Bill had maintained their trust in itself, their honesty of young and open venturesome, their vision in the face of the risks, another would be the concept of their company among the customers.

An example like this shows us that the use of the creative mind can make us grow to high limits while the use of the competitive, greedy and conservative mind, the only thing that will make is that we lose our innocence and our capacity of creating wealth.

To give always more than received

August 31, 2007 · Leave a Comment

One of the clearest teachings in Wallace Wattles is that one always has to give more, in using value that what receives from the other. In spite of an poor enough translation, we can interpret that what is telling us is that we have to give something that is more useful or has more benefits than what they are giving us in change.

If we are in the trade, for example, and we sell some thing or we lend some service, we have to overcome the strictly necessary thing for the price that they pay to us. As note to the margin, this makes me agree a song that say “I don’t count the change, it is always over.” Not we should limit ourselves to the strictly necessary thing.

The mercantilist mentalities will be able to say that this is to lose and that losing any business prospers. If we have the habitual smallness of mind we will think that this is really this way. But it is enough with observing the reality to our surroundings to realize that the truth is just the opposite.

In my city there are many bakeries, or bread manufacturers. But there is only one that has an extraordinary quality, the other ones all manufacture the same thing and they charge the same thing. And all time is the same thing. But the one that excels progresses every day for thirty years. He has five times more clients than the other ones, in spite of charging the most expensive bread. It has been enlarged several times, has other annexed businesses as a coffee shop, and their owners don’t stop of getting rich. One day I asked to the owner, a Spanish man arrived here forty years ago which was their secret to make such a nice bread. Their answer was scanty: it is necessary to put attention” he told me.

Not I doubt that he makes the same thing with the same materials and same people that their competition. After all to manufacture bread doesn’t have big secrets. But the he dedicates a great attention to that. It seems a little thing, but that is making the difference. People will think that he didn’t want to give me the secret. I believe that there is not such a secret. It simply pays attention to what he makes, and that is received by those that consume their bread, in some way that it is perceived in the pleasure, or in the consistency, or in the aspect, or in all that at the same time. It is a form of putting his love.

It is to give more, always a little bit more. A touch, an element that is something our that denotes our love, our intention. That make the difference.

Message of my friend Albert on Wattles and his work

August 28, 2007 · Leave a Comment

When I met the work of Wattles (26-05-07) it was a very signal day for me, for reasons that want not disclose here, and the chance give me the book that changed my life. I read it that same night and some 15 times in the following week.

I know that this is real, it works. I know that I will be rich in a time and read these comments that I write in this blog will bring me beautiful memories. Me like you can understand I don’t win anything with you becoming rich but since, for shame and other reasons, I didn’t comment even anything to my family of the matter Wattles I am full with happiness to share it with strange people to those that maybe my words can change the life to better in any instant. People that I won’t know that won’t thank me in person, but when I were rich I will know that somebody will have followed myself path and that will also have achieved it and that will make me double the satisfaction.

For my this blog is a delight, it allows me to express me such and like I think and I sit down, it gives me the extra impulse that I demand myself every. For that reason I want to give those thanks to their creator.

Continuing with what said to the beginning will say that when the book arrived to my I looked for an exit desperately, a change in my life. I could not allow me a failure, so I read it and I accepted with absolute Faith all that said, it stops this way to get what desired. Probably many like me don’t want to be rich to make the vagrant the whole day, or to be in front of the sat down television and when they get bored to leave to the caribe. Many want a light in their life. To see if this doesn’t sound you, to see if you don’t feel something similar to what I will tell you:

I want to be rich to be unworried, to give the best thing to mine, to have my house, to choose a work that I like and let me be filled without caring what they pay me, to be my own boss, to help friends and family when they have a problem that the money solves (a surgery, for example), to escape from the routine and to fly free, to decide in what world I want to live, to decide that people want to surround myself, to make my own decisions, so that nobody spends for above (neither I want to be above anybody), to read a book peacefully when I feel like, to go to a trip when tired and want to relax me, to see the wonderful landscapes of this planet, for never feeling more contained, to have time for me, and to have a great life because me less I don’t deserve. If you have read this you surely think as me, I give you my most valuable advice friends: make all that says the work of Wattles and you never doubt that it is such a true science that is able to light the bulb of your bedroom. If you make that you won’t fail. Trust my, please.
Regards to all.

Is Wattles a second order author?

August 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Wallace Wattes is a practically unknown author. The fact of having died before 1930, when exploits the media, and of having written relatively few books, has contributed to that. He has not many followers in the world outside the United States and has not been translated but recently.

However, other authors a little later, as Napoleon Hill, owes him a lot. In the case of Hill, although maybe he never recognized it, show the influence of Wattles in his good known work, Think and Grow Rich, which has been translated to many languages and has influenced to several generations. There is remarkable the influence of the Wattles’ ideas, inclusive whole chapters of that monumental book because of its size) seems to be dictated directly by Wattles.

The work of Hill is big, voluminous, embraces many aspects of the human life, digresses among recommendations of all type that end up inclusive seeming to be contradictory. He goes from the personal finances to the love, in a journey of recommendations inexplicable many times. It is a memory excercise to read that principle book to the end and to be about retaining some idea of those that are contained there.

On the other hand The Science of Becoming Rich or Science of Getting Rich is a concise, elegant and brief book, condensed to the end that seems that if one retired a sentence the work would be unconcluded or weak. It is a focused book, precise, austere, lacking of excessive and of grandiloquent images. Not it is literature. It is the dry and brief expression of a science taken to the end of the minimum thing and of the indispensable thing. They are never necessary many words to tell the truth.

When I met the Science of Wattles

August 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

When I met the work of Wallace Wattles I was passing a good moment in the economic thing, but there was something that bothered me, a hole sensation, of not to know why I was making that was making for. The things of my work went well, and economically I could not complain, although it was not becoming rich, but a feeling that it was a hollow inside, that anything cared a lot and of not having a desire that impels me steamed up at that moment.

Casually I found in internet the book of Wallace Wattles. First read it in English and then in Spanish, that obviously clarified me a lot the vision. Immediately I felt that it was in front of something that had looked for many times without knowing it exactly.

However, I was oppressed by the enormous quality of what had and for the enormous task that waited for me. Immediately I felt that I believe firmly in what Wattles said, an instantaneous faith took possession of me. But at the same time, I felt that that faith required a very big impulse of my will so was made real.

Then I left the book to a side for a couple of months. I had the feeling that I was not enough clever, that I should gather forces, or something should happen that impelled me externally to follow the advice and postulates of the book. It was a strange sensation: on one hand knowing that I was in front of something totally certain for me, but at the same time to know that you don’t have enough force to make it like he should make it. It was as mixing the happiness that I have discovered the truth and a certain sadness of knowing that the search had finished, together with feeling weak to confront the challenges that I should confront.

Until the force appeared and everything changed. The faith put my soul in movement, the gratefulness arose suddenly and I started. I began this way to become rich with firm steps, with certainties and without fear, and with the absolute conviction that this is possible, this works, it is easier than it seems although there are moments of difficulty and weakness. Now, I see back and I think that what I wanted was happening as quick as possible, with determination and security. Now, this is only growing day by day, with the certainty that everything is possible.

Why is a science and not a religion?

August 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

If Wallace Wattles had written his book in these days, people had probably transformed him in a religious leader. He would have their own meeting places and maybe until their fanatic followers and their own liturgy. It is very easy that people had considered The Science of Becoming Rich as a religious book of the new age.

That is because all the references that Wattles carries out to the dark matter, the amorphous and intelligent matter, could be referred to an omnipresent god and that everything knows. But Wattles didn’t write on religion. Why?

The religion, anyone of them, seeks to explain the origin of the universe, like what are the things, like how they were created, who made it, who has the control and how to making to please him, or rather what waits this god from us. It is the explanation of the origin and final destination of the things. It is the one on the way to the universe, explained and digested so that masses understand it or so that they have enough consistency like so that, if they don’t understand it, at least put their faith in them.

But Wallace Wattles wrote about a science. The science doesn’t seek to explain the origin and the destination of the things, but it simply explains how they work. Which are the laws that govern them. A thing is to know how the planets move, which it is its trajectory, and another very different one is to know who created them, why and for what reason. He simply discovered a mechanism for which the human being can build his future to his will and convenience. And it exposed it without giving explanations of why is this way. It simply works, as he said.

To be rich is not a sin

August 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Maybe the confusion comes for that of “blessed the poor because they belongs the Kingdom of the skies”. It is not my intention to start translating the Bible. Be enough to say that when having a single translation, the official one, is not very probable that the sense has been copied in the right way. One could write a lot about how the official church contradicts the same thing that translates. But good, that is another history.

In our Latin, Catholic and western culture, to be rich is seen as sinful and to be poor as compassionate. This truth has been extrapolated to the point that the bad guys always appear as greedy, in our culture, and the good ones as poor and indigent. This way, wealth is synonymous of vulgarity and sin, and poverty is synonymous of virtuousness and sanctity.

But Wattles gives us a totally revolutionary vision in this aspect. To be rich allows to carry out the human being’s potentialities, to grow, to be given ourselves more life, a life more full, bigger happiness, and to be able to also give it to others. To be poor is to reduce the man’s capacities, to limit it, to deprive him of life, of pleasure, of fullness.

It is worth to clarify that this doesn’t have anything to do with the justice, which implies a concept completely separated, different. That in our countries we see that the rich ones don’t pay their taxes, condemning this way to thousands to the education and health shortage, is another problem. Or that the rich ones can hire better lawyers and not to pay for their crimes, which happens also, is not something that makes the wealth in itself to be a bad thing. It would be as saying that the water is bad because it produces floods.

The wealth is what allows the man to be developed in all his fullness, without loading it of concerns that don’t make bigger sense when living a full and wise life. To be rich is to be able to be, to be able to act freely, to be free of ties, to be able to know the world, the life in their different forms, to be able to develop what you want without concerns.

From where donations will come out to protect the poor of the desvastated communities, from the hungry countries? from other poor people? Who will leave his children one day without eating so that the poor from Africa eat? Let us don’t allow ourselves to deceive, the wealth is good, it is useful and it is more life and more wisdom for all. Then how we apply it is a moral problem, but is not a characteristic of the wealth or the fortune.

All we are equals to obtain wealth and happiness

August 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Yesterday I stopped enough time to think about an idea that left Anselmo in a recent comment of this post. The idea expressed clearly that all the human beings are born prepared with the same tools and that these are the necessary and sufficient to achieve their happiness or to obtain what desire. Not external determining factors exist that can stop us if we apply the correct techniques. And all we have the necessary gifts and the capacity to apply them, independently of our origin. It suffices then only with knowing the appropriate mechanisms. (more…)
